Spain buys counter-drone defense

Spain has selected Blighter's AUDS counter-UAV system.

Under the contract with the Spanish Ministry of Defense, AUDS will be used to secure critical assets and personnel from threats by drones, according to a Blighter news release. The contract is valued at about €2 million (U.S. $2.3 million).

AUDS uses micro-Doppler radar as well as infrared and daylight cameras to detect and track drones out to a range of 6 miles. It then uses a non-kinetic radio frequency to take control of the unmanned aircraft. It can be used to defend important sites such as power stations, airports and air bases, as well as border control and political or sporting events.
