Three companies are partnering to offer the AeroVironment Wasp AE micro-UAV to the Australian military.

AeroVironment is teaming up with General Dynamics Mediaware and Australian firm XTEK, according to an AeroVironment announcement.

The Wasp is already used by the U.S. military, under the designation RQ-12A. The 2.8-pound UAV has a range of about 3 miles.

"Teaming with XTEK, Sentient and General Dynamics Mediaware for delivery and sustainment is key to ensuring our customer's success as its forces rely on the advanced, versatile and life-saving capabilities of our Wasp AE systems to proceed with certainty," said Kirk Flittie, vice president of AeroVironment's Unmanned Aircraft Systems division.
