While the U.S. is spending millions on lasers and cannons to shoot down drones, Russia has shot shoot down a UAV with a much more low-tech weapon.

Or rather, a group of medieval reenactors in the Lipetsk region of central Russia shot down a drone with a spear, according to website Web siteDigital Trends.

The YouTube video shows a bearded, helmeted man on the ground hurling a spear at the UAV, which then crashes.

There is no word on whether the Russian military, now engaged in a massive modernization program, will be deploying spear-based anti-drone defenses.
