Saab has unveiled the Sea Wasp, a new remotely operated vehicle (ROV) that neutralizes naval IEDs.

The Sea Wasp, which is controlled by two operators, is based on Saab's Seaeye commercial ROVs.

Saab also worked with the U.S. underwater hazardous device community to develop the Sea Wasp, according to a company news release.

"Sea Wasp is a hybrid of pre-existing Saab technologies that can now be applied to an urgent worldwide need," said Bert Johansson, Saab's sales director for underwater systems. "Underwater EOD is a rapidly growing niche around the world, and Sea Wasp's capabilities correspond to that niche."
