General Dynamics has been awarded a $29 million Navy contract for naval radios.

The company will supply 56 AN/USC-61(C) Digital Modular Radios (DMRs) for submarines, surface ships and shore-based sites, according to a General Dynamics news release. The radios will be capable of using the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) satellite waveform. The contract reflects an option exercised on an earlier contract awarded in 2010.

"DMR is an extremely versatile radio and we continue to update its capabilities to ensure that Navy communications networks have the most advanced and secure technologies," said Mike DiBiase, vice president C4ISR technologies for General Dynamics Mission Systems.
