The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) announced Karin Soyster Fitzgerald as the foundation’s new chief operating officer, filling a senior leadership position that oversees all of the non-profit organization’s internal operations.
Her first day is expected to be Nov. 28.
USGIF is a nonprofit non-lobbying educational foundation dedicated to supporting the geospatial intelligence tradecraft and works frequently with employees from the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. It describes its mission at being to “develop a stronger community of interest between government, industry, academia, professional organizations and individuals who share a mission focused around the development and application of geospatial intelligence to address national security objectives.”
In her new role, Fitzgerald will provide day-to-day leadership and “contribute to the development of USGIF’s strategic goals,” according to a USGIF press release.
Fitzgerald most recently served as the chief operations officer and deputy executive director of the International Association of Fire Chiefs from 2012 to 2017.
