Finnish firm Bittium Wireless has been awarded a Finnish military contract to provide tactical network equipment.
Under the 30 million euro (US$35.5 million) contract with the Finnish Defense Forces, Bittium will provide its Tactical Wireless IP Network products, according to a Bittium news release.
The contract “will continue the renewal of the Finnish Defense Forces’ command, control and communications system, where the Software Defined Radio-based Bittium TAC WIN system acts as the backbone for tactical data transfer,” Bittium said. “Bittium TAC WIN provides broadband IP network connections for mobile communication stations and command posts. In the reformed combat doctrine of the Finnish Defense Forces, mobility, leading the troops on the move and effective communications play a key role.”
