Raytheon has been awarded a $29.6 million Air Force contract to upgrade C-130H radios.

The contract calls for 178 transports to receive MXF-626K VHF radios. "The upgrade ensures C-130 radios comply with newly adopted European Air Traffic Management requirements by providing 8.33 kilohertz channel spacing in the range of 118 to 137 megahertz," said a Raytheon news release.

The MXF-626K ARC-186 radios currently installed on the C-130H. The new radios are capable of air-to-air and air-to-ground communications, including SINCGARS (single channel ground and air radio system) traffic.
