Northrop Grumman has been awarded a bomb-disposal robot contract potentially worth more than $483 million.

The company has received a $14.2 million indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract for the Advanced Explosive Ordnance Disposal Robotic System Increment 1, dismounted operations variant, according to a Department of Defense announcement. Northrop Grumman will integrate the handheld operator control unit, communications and other modules. If all options are exercised, the contract would reach a cumulative value of $483.3 million. The initial work is scheduled to be completed by August 2017.

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division, Indian Head, Maryland, is the contracting activity.
