Incoming Defense Intelligence Agency director Maj. Gen. Vincent Stewart will be sworn in Jan. 23 at DIA's headquarters at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, D.C., according to DIA officials.

Stewart, who was confirmed by the Senate on Dec. 11, 2014, officially will be dual-hatted as DIA director and commander of the Joint Functional Component Command for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance.

Most recently, Stewart served most recently as commander of Marine Forces Cyber Command. Prior to that assignment, he served as director of intelligence for the Marine Corps in Washington, D.C. He is the first Marine to serve as DIA director, according to a release from DIA.

Stewart succeeds Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, who stepped down as director last August amid controversy over his leadership and his relationship with top intelligence officials.
