Chemring has been awarded an Army contract for ground-penetrating radars.
Chemring will provide 10 radar systems for evaluation, according to a company news release. The value of the contract was not disclosed.
The radar include Chemring's enhanced detection technology. "The evaluation of this new capability, if successful, could lead to upgrades of the US Army HMDS [Husky Mounted Detection Systems — a counter-IED system] inventory," the company said.
"I am delighted that we have received this contract that will support an Operational Assessment by the US Army," Chemring Group Chief Executive Michael Flowers said. "These systems, which incorporate enhanced detection technology developed by Roke and Chemring Technology Solutions in the UK, offer a valuable upgrade to the existing HMDS fleet."
