DRS has been awarded a $339.3 million contract for the Joint Effects Targeting System (JETS).
JETS is a joint Army, Air Force and Marine Corps effort to develop a handheld targeting system. Specifications call for a device that weighs less than 3 pounds, and with an accuracy that will enable errors of no more than 5 meters at a range of 5 kilometers.
DRS and BAE had been awarded engineering development contracts in 2013. The Department of Defense contract announcement noted that two bids for the contract had been received.
The contract is scheduled for completion by September 2021.
