The Navy is looking for autonomous underwater sensors.

The system must have algorithms capable of identifying the target type. The system must also be capable of transmitting the data "in areas of tactical constraint," according to the Office of Naval Research's FedBizOpps announcement (https://www.fbo.gov/index?s=opportunity&mode=form&id=4ac19c4303facdbed3ab100f946ba721&tab=core&_cview=1). The system must have computational efficiency for employment with tactical networks that have low bandwidth and high latency.

The sensor portion of the project will examine multi-modal sensor fusion. The communication part will focus on data links between tactical nodes and shore sites, transmitting information from underwater through the ocean and sky, and autonomous optimization of communications.
