DRS has released a 10-micron pixel pitch infrared detector.

The detector was demonstrated with an ultra-high resolution 1280x1024 thermal camera. "The demonstrations also proved the sensor's performance capabilities of better than 50 mK noise equivalent temperature difference — a common measurement of sensitivity - the standard for most uncooled infrared products on the market today," said a DRS news release.

"The evolution to the 10-micron pitch infrared detectors marks a major milestone for DRS and the infrared industry alike, enabling sensor manufacturing with reduced size, significant cost benefits and additional performance capabilities," DRS said.
