The reconnaissance version of Britain's SCOUT armored vehicle has passed its Critical Design Review (CDR).
The review covered the vehicle's platform hull design, the Lockheed Martin UK-developed turret, electronic architecture, software and other systems, according to a news release by General Dynamics UK. The first SCOUT Reconnaissance pre-production prototype is scheduled to be completed later this year.
"The SCOUT Reconnaissance variant is the flagship of the SCOUT SV [Specialist Vehicle] program and will provide a step-change in ground-based ISTAR capability to the British Army," said General Dynamics UK - Land Systems vice president Kevin Connell. "The completion of the SCOUT Reconnaissance variant CDR is a significant step in delivering a family of SCOUT SV platforms, which represent the future of armored fighting vehicles for the British Army."
