After an orbital malfunction, the MUOS-5 communication satellite is back in operation.

The satellite was launched in June 2016, but "experienced an anomaly with its orbit raising propulsion system on its way to geosynchronous orbit," according to a Lockheed Martin announcement. "The Navy and Lockheed Martin engineering teams were able to isolate the issue and deliver MUOS to operational orbit using alternative propulsion."

The satellite completed orbit raising and successfully deployed its solar arrays and antennas for mission operations on Oct. 30, 2016. It began delivering communications signals after completing on-orit testing in January.
