Harris Corp. has won a $10 million Army contract for vehicle radios.
The contract follows a Milestone C decision for limited-rate production of the Falcon III AN/VRC-118 Mid-tier Networking Vehicular Radio (MNVR), according to a Harris news release.
"The two-channel Harris MNVR solution is based on the company's combat-proven Falcon III tactical wideband networking technology and uses the Wideband Networking Waveform (WNW) and Soldier Radio Waveform (SRW)," Harris said.
"It enables warfighters to share voice, data and video and also operates as a node in a mobile network — so information can be transmitted from one MNVR system to another until it reaches its destination. The Army has deemed the radio operationally effective and stated that it enhances solider effectiveness. The radios will be used to field the 1st and 3rd Brigades of the 82nd Airborne Division as part of Capability Set 17."
