Airbus has opened a new ground station in Australia for the company's Skynet satellite network.
The teleport, built in Adelaide, joins a network of stations in France, Germany, Norway, the United Kingom and the U.S. The new Australian station was built in conjunction with Speedcast, which already provides communications for the Australian military.
"Skynet supports military satcom operations across the globe, especially in remote areas with little or no communication infrastructure and in mid-ocean, distanced from land and shipping lanes – making it ideal for naval and airborne platforms, as well as land operations," according to the company release.
