Comtech has won a $6.4 million contract extension to upgrade Navy terminals.
The contract, with Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), is for adding an adaptive coding capability to Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) Interface Processor (ATIP) terminals, according to a Comtech news release. The ATIP is a Layer-2 Ethernet bridging device installed on ship, shore and submarine platforms in the Navy Multiband Terminal (NMT).
Adaptive coding will enable communications systems to respond more quickly to changing environments.
