NSA gives its blessing to Harris radio

The National Security Agency has certified a Harris Corp. manpack radio for secure satellite signals.

The Falcon III AN/PRC-117G Multiband Networking Manpack Radio was given NSA Type-1 certification to run the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) waveform, according to a Harris news release. This allows secure voice and data transmissions on the AN/PRC-117G using the MUOS waveform.

"This NSA certification for the MUOS-enabled AN/PRC-117G allows us to continue providing value and leading-edge communications technology to the warfighter on the battlefield," Chris Young, president of Harris Communication Systems, said.

The government should ensure that U.S. tech firms eying national security contracts can keep American technology secrets from China and Russia.
